In writing my sons obituary I wish to convey how special of a man he was. He was such an inspiration to many people. Everyone loved Larry! However, as his mother I feel I loved him most. Larry was a perfect child who weighed 6lbs 6 1/2oz. at birth. A child who had a strong devotion to the Lord that began at a young age. He had a great desire for reading the bible, which started from the time he learned to read. Throughout his life, Larry had the ability to share wonderful stories about his biblical readings. He did so with such passion. His faith and love for the Lord was never doubted. Anyone who met Larry could easily see how special he was and how close to the Lord he was. His greatest passion was to serve God, and share the love he had for our creator. He faithfully wrote in his journal where he kept his devotionals. He had an interest in learning about other cultural beliefs as well. Prior to his death, he showed interest in ministry and expressed his intention to make it a career.
Family bonding and unity was important to Larry. He was compassionate and carried a great deal of love in his heart for his children. He loved them unconditionally and with great devotion, he made sure they would be surrounded by love and the word of God.
Larry was a giving man with a desire to help those who were less fortunate. He would give of himself and ask nothing in return. He had a passion for serving the lord by helping others. He was not judgmental of anyone. Donating his personal belongings to someone in order to provide warmth was not unusual. Larry had his bible with him much of the time. He loved reading it and he faithfully documented his thoughts and devotionals in his journal. He shared his spiritual thoughts and writings with others. Here are a few of them.
September 21, 2015…….I always wanted to inspire, be effective, help those in need through troubled times. I truly believe that is why I was created! From the moment I was born I think those around me felt it. What is it? I really haven't found a way to explain. All I know is, just like you I have struggled in life, no more or no less. Life is full of difficulties and though we may hide them behind subtle smiles and unrevealing expressions, seeking hope in our troubled times. My heart goes out to you! Whatever the need however, the loss no matter how alone you are feeling. I love you, and that love is given to me from Christ whom I know also carries that very same love for you….Larry Vaughn
September 22, 2015: I watched patiently as the Sun arose ushering in the beginning of a brand new day. In that brief moment I saw creation rise to perfection in a matter of minutes as it felt like an eternity shining light on forever, giving praise to the Creator for its own existence......Larry Vaughn
Larry was known as a good and kind person. Often going into a room where he created a smile, a laugh or provided comfort to others. He had his struggles in life but now those struggles are gone. He no longer has to be in pain. He is in the arms of the lord. He told me several times that if he passed away before I did that he would want everyone to embrace his death as much as we embraced his life. That is what my son would say to me. Larry is loved, he will be missed, and he will never be forgotten. Someday, I will see him again. Until then he is where he needs to be. He is with God!
