LaShawn Terez Davis

Mr. La Shawn Terez Davis or (Shawny D) as he liked to be called was born June 21, 1971 to Joseph Ronald Johnson and Linda Marie Davis in Chicago, Illinois and passed away May 6, 2017. He graduated from Corliss High School in 1990. While in high school he was an avid member of the swim team. In the fall of 1990, he and his father moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He worked at McDonalds as a Group Leader, cashier, trainer, etc. until he changed jobs and worked as a cashier at US Bank for ten years. After layoffs there, Shawn worked from 2015 part-time at Dollar Tree as a cashier and warehouse worker at Best Buy. In January 2017 he became full time at Best Buy and was given their Employee of the year award in April this year. “Shawny D” was a fun loving kind artistically talented person, who loved to play video games in his spare time with his cousin Marius and battle with his Granny Shirley at UNO. At age 11 he created a comic book named, “Jet Puppy.”

La Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and grandfather, and his paternal grandfather and step-grandfather, Gilbert Isaiah. He leaves to mourn his father, Joseph Johnson, sister Shelmedria Johnson, paternal grandmother Shirley Davis-Isaiah, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 13, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by memorial service.
