

Laura Bell Brown passed from this life to eternity on July 26, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born July 26, 1929, in Marvell, Arkansas to the union of Essie Mae and Benjamin Frazier. To this union, 24 children were conceived.
Laura accepted Jesus Christ at the early age of twelve. She graduated from Hicks High School in Marvell, Arkansas. Laura was united in marriage to George Brown Jr. To this union, nine children were born. She was preceded in death by both parents, (brothers) John Frazier, Jimmy Frazier, B.J. Frazier, RV Frazier, (sisters) Carrie Thomas Mahalie Fulton, Sophie Wilson, Ruby Lee Kizer, Odessie Germany, and Marjorie Henderson. As well as (sons) George Brown III, Robert Brown Sr., Ben Brown, Fred Brown, (daughter) Georgia Brown, (grandson) Darrel Wright Jr, (granddaughters), Laura Bell Mayo, Barbara Mayo, and Kameela Brown, (great-grandson) Michael Baker Jr., as well as her former husband and father of her children George Brown Jr.
Laura and George for better employment opportunities. They would later move to Kansas City, Missouri where George would gain employment at Ford Motor Company.
Laura was a homemaker until becoming employed by the Nash family as a dyer and refinisher of shoes, purses, and leather goods. She was able to use what came naturally to her, creativity and the arts. Throughout the years, she was employed by other department stores and shoe repair shops such as Hartzfeld’s department store, Renner’s on the Plaza, Carpenter Shoe Repair of downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and Lavender shoe shop in Brookside where she retired. In her youth, she modeled. She and George were also owners of “The Duck In” club in Kansas.
Laura was a member of Eastside New Hope Baptist Church where she was a member for many and served as an Usher. Laura moved her membership to Pilgrim Rest Missionary Church where she served on the Motherboard until her health failed.
Ms. Laura Brown was a true believer in the word of God, she read her Bible daily, she woke-up reading her bible and went to bed reading her bible. She was a spirit filled and God-fearing woman. She spoke often of the goodness of God and wanted all to know the gift of being saved, baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit. There were many stories in the bible she could sum up to give those she spoke with an account of what occurred and why. She loved reading the word and looking at her favorite television ministries such as Pastor Charles Stanley and many others. Her favorite saying to the Pastor “truly, truly, truly Pastor people ought to wake-up, get their life together, because we are leaving here.” Laura believed in supporting the church she had a generous spirit and donated to several charities.
Laura could fill a room with laughter. She was a very loving woman and did great impersonations of her family members. Laura loved to shop, plant flowers and watch them grow, and decorate her home with unique furnishings and antiques.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children’s Manerva Gregory, George Brown IV, Alice Wright, and Ruby Brown. Her two sisters: Ethel Watts and Mary Miller. One brother, Odell Frazier, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family members.
A visitation for Laura will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 3350 Hardesty Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64128. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. A Graveside Committal Service in Mount Moriah Cemetery South will follow at 2:30 PM, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
