Larry was born on November 9, 1944 to James Michael and Anna Catherine Sheeley, both of whom preceded him in death as did his brother, Richard Vincent Sheeley. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas Glynn, James Michael, John Joseph (Cathy) and Brian Patrick (Carol) Sheeley; and his sisters, Mary Dianne Harrison, Maurine Elizabeth (Jerry) Gardner and Margaret Ann (John) Psilopoulos. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
After graduating from De La Salle High School, Larry served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Larry’s tragically too short life was spent primarily in caring for and watching over his family members. He gave up his job in order to become a loving caretaker for his ailing mother until her death, served as the legal guardian of his disabled brother, and then for many years until his own death, watched over and virtually helped raise many of this great-nieces and nephews while their parents were at work. He welcomed the company of his nieces and nephews with whom he watched John Wayne movies, cheered on Notre Dame, played games, shared his music and helped with homework at times. He called them his children and he loved them as much as they loved him back.
