

Leo Glenn Cunningham, of Raytown, Missouri passed away on September 28th, 2021. Leo, the son of Norbert Leo and Genevieve (Scott) Cunningham, was born on February 8, 1931, north of Wheeling, at or near Meadville, Missouri. His father passed away in September 1939 and on May 19, 1940, Genevieve was united in marriage to James Edward Welch in Hale, Missouri. Many people often called Leo “Pete” or “Junior Welch” because his step-father sold life insurance and was known by many in the local community.
Leo graduated from Hale High School in 1949 and was drafted into the Army in 1952 until his Honorable Discharge. Leo and his high school sweetheart were united in matrimony on March 21, 1953, and remained married until her passing on February 19, 2014. To this union his daughter, Sandra Kay and son, Lonnie Lee was born. Following his discharge, Leo worked for Dye Phosphate & Grain until moving to Raytown in 1961 and accepting a job as a machinist for Western Electric. Leo retired from AT&T (formerly Western Electric) in August 1988 after working there for 27 years.
Leo is survived by his son, Lonnie Lee Cunningham; his daughter, Sandra Kay Hummel and his grand-daughter, Melissa Kay Hummel.
Visitation will be 9am, Saturday, October 2, 2021, followed by funeral services at 10am at Gregory Boulevard Church of Christ, 7109 Raytown Rd., Raytown, MO 64133. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
