

Leonard A. Goebel, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Dec. 30, 2014. Visitation 4-6pm Sun., Jan. 4, 2015 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10010 E. 40 Hwy, Indep.; rosary recited at 3:45pm & Mic-O-Say Ceremony at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Mon. Jan. 5th at the church with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Leonard was born August 12, 1930 in Independence, MO to Henry Herman & Golda Goebel. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Leonard was employed for 35 years at Tower Properties prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #6 for over 35 years. Leonard was a member of Nativity of Mary Parish for 35 years and an Usher for 10 years. He was a member of the Catholic Committee for Scouting; receiving the Bronze Pelican & St. George emblems for his service. Leonard was an honorary warrior of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say & known as Sachem North Wind. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver for his many years of dedication to scouting.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy & a sister, Nina Gowin. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; a son, Bill; a daughter, Carol Bogacz (Mitch); grandsons, Tyler & Garrett Goebel; brothers-in-law, Angelo Serrone & Frank Serrone (Delores); sister-in-law, Vincie McMurray (Eddie) and many nieces & nephews.
