Leonorcita did not like winter time, so she left us in the early morning hours of November 15. Her passing marked the end of 45 years of spring for her husband, Guillermo, and left winter in the souls of family and friends. She gave endless love and guidance to her children, Leonor, Billy and Beatriz, and her grandchildren, Sofia, Isabella, Penelope and Leo. Jeff, Chris and Rory mourn their mother-in-law. Her sisters, Olivia and Adolfina, reminisce of all the happiness and sorrows they shared over the years.
Leonor was a small business owner and Spanish teacher. She cherished her family above all else. She was the life of the party and a trusted confidant. She loved good, long dinners with friends, movies and books. She traveled all over the world and became consumed by the history and cultures of wherever she visited.
Since the ominous diagnosis 4 years ago, she was an example of fortitude and faith. "God never sends us anything that we cannot handle," she said at the time. She never complained or ceased to look after the needs of others. She had a remarkable wit and an incredible ability to feel love and joy. But, alas, beautiful flowers don’t usually last. At her passing, at age 66, she left us with the treasure of her example as a friend, mother and wife.
A visitation will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Memoriall Mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel, 14251 Nall, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters Servants of Mary in KCKS. Condolences and fond memories may be left online at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com.
