Visitation is Monday, Nov. 26 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO, with funeral at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow, with military honors, at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Gladstone, MO.
Les was born May 27, 1921 in O’Brien County, IA to George and Elsie Mae Horstmann. After high school, he moved to Kansas City to attend Midland Radio School. There he met Mabel Elliott and the two were married April 4, 1942. In 1944, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1944 and served during World War II. He was a reservation manager for Braniff Airlines, built houses, and was the owner of Tot Togs at the Antioch Center. He enjoyed amateur radio, baseball, fishing and volunteering at the Earnest Shepherd Youth Center in Liberty.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Mabel; daughter Sandra Dalman; siblings Elden Horstmann, Elaine Nitz, and Delores Ginger. Survivors include his daughter Anita (Jim) Schiller; granddaughters Darlene (Tim) Falter and Geary Beth (David) Ruckel; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
