Lisa Ellis Brown

8 mars 196025 mars 2021

Lisa Ellis Brown passed away March 25, 2021.

She was born to Bruce and Judy Ellis on March 8, 1960, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the youngest of three siblings. Lisa is survived by two children, Alex and Kate Brown, both living in the Kansas City area.

Lisa graduated from Grandview High School in 1978. She next obtained a BS in Nursing from the University of Central Missouri, leading to a long career in healthcare that began at Baptist Medical Center, where she worked as a nurse with a specialty in oncology. Lisa later spent 18 years with HCA Healthcare as a Division Clinical Resource Director for the organization’s Midwest and Delta markets. During her time with HCA, Lisa went back to school and obtained her MBA from Baker University, where she was also a member of Sigma Beta Delta – an International Honor Society for students in business, management, and administration.

Lisa was inquisitive, outspoken, supportive, and driven. She was passionate about politics and was an advocate for those without a voice – traits she inherited from her parents and passed to her children. She was never shy about voicing her opinions or getting into a debate – no topic was off-limits – but she always did so with a smile and remained genuinely interested in learning the viewpoints of others. Lisa was always there for others, both personally and professionally, and was an excellent listener and mentor, always ready to lend support and advice with a positive energy. She loved to cook large meals and entertain family and friends. Lisa loved to talk, and would always have 20 questions for you, keeping the focus on how you were doing rather than talking about herself.

Lisa’s innate quality as a caregiver also extended into her decision to be an organ donor. She has already saved two lives with this decision and will additionally offer impactful contributions to ongoing medical research and education.

In addition to her children, Lisa is survived by her brother and sister Bruce (Kim) and Maria (Jorg), six nieces and nephews, Bob, Lauren (Sean), Natalie (AJ), Andrew, Sydney (Ryan), Jake and six great nieces and nephews, Lila, Brady, Crosby, Landry, Liam, Rowan, and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service to honor Lisa will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 1-4 PM at the Lone Summit Ranch located at 28701 East Old US 50 Highway, Lake Lotawana, MO 64806. The family respectfully requests that all in attendance wear masks (required by venue) and be mindful of social distancing.

One of the memories I have of Lisa is her bubbling personality. She always had a smile to share and kind words for those she met. She was a beautiful person inside and out; her compassion made her beauty bold and distinct. I have a picture of Lisa, Maria Lynn, and I serving refreshments at an anniversary party for our grandparents-she had the biggest grin on her face!! She was loving every minute of it!! Lisa will be missed by many but her soul lives on in those who knew and loved her. I’ll see you in Heaven one day!! Love, Cathy

Lisa was such a bright and loving energy, I can only imagine the void in your hearts and conversation. Many prayers being said for your strength.

I had the greatest privilege of getting to know her since 2015 through work. Many times we would stick around after all else left spending our time looking things up on google :) , laughing, listening, sharing our recent restaurant visits and enjoying the company. I learned so much about her family, most importantly her two kids and father, Brucee.

I can still hear her say "hey, listen" and making circles on the desk with the palm of her hand.

Cheers to you, Lisa!

I met Lisa in Guatemala. We were volunteering there along with Alex and Kate. In the short time we were together as roommates what was most apparent was her fierce love for her children. She did an amazing job raising two very special people and she was so very proud to be their mother. Lisa can rest easy knowing they will be okay.

I worked with Lisa at HCA and was proud to call her my boss. She was a caring person who always wanted to make sure I was doing well especially during COVID and always asked about my husband as well. She was a lovely lady and will be missed.
