

Lois C. Russell, 93, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, August 5, 2012. She was born on August 16, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Frederick W. and Ada B. (Slyster) Stosberg. She was the owner of Seufert Brothers Hardware Store. Lois was an active member of Country Club Christian Church. She attended the Conservatory of Music Drama Department, The University of Kansas City, and was Past President of the Kansas City Young Matrons, and The Children’s Theater. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter Fe and Native Sons of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her husbands Dawson Campbell, J. Howell Buckingham, and Preston M. Russell, and stepdaughter Frances Buckingham Montaleone. Lois is survived by stepdaughters Jan Louise Adams and husband Eugene of Raymore, Missouri, Louise Chapman and husband Bill of Peculiar, Missouri, Jill Thomas and husband Jim of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Joy Russell of Overland Park, Kansas, and stepson Randy Russell of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by stepgranddaughters Lee Mastropasqua and husband Vinny of Staten Island, New York, Gia Shelby and husband Jeff of Augusta, Missouri, Kelly High of Raymore, Missouri, and Tara Lawson and husband Rob of Raymore, Missouri; stepgrandsons Matthew Adams and wife Marie of Florida, New York, Isaiah Adams and wife Nathalie of Tucson, Arizona, Keith Chapman and wife Jeanette of Peculiar, Missouri, Kevin Chapman and wife Bridget of Peculiar, Missouri, and Anthony Montaleone and wife Jennifer of Overland Park, Kansas; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18, at the George Hamilton Combs Chapel by Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri 64113. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Country Club Christian Church or St. Luke’s Hospice, 3100 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
