Jane Schweder, 80, loving wife, mother and grandmother of Kansas City, Missouri passed away March 15, 2017 at Brighton Gardens. Jane’s family will host a reception in her honor on Tuesday, March 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Memorial contributions will be made to Parkinson’s Foundation, 8900 State Line Road, Suite 320, Leawood, Kansas 66206.
Jane was born on October 11, 1936 in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of Roy and Florence Filson. She moved from St Joseph to Kansas City, she attended Westport High School and Kansas City Community College. Jane was married to Norman Schweder for over 50 years. She was a member of Westwood Lutheran Church in Westwood, Kansas. She was a volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Jo Fitch of Barnesville, Georgia. Her survivors include her husband Norman Schweder, sister Janet Beets, Kansas City, Missouri, brother John Filson, Corvallis, Oregon, her sons Eric Schweder, Kansas City Missouri and John Schweder and his wife Li-Pei, New York City, and grandsons Soren and Spencer Schweder.
