

Lorraine S. Bennett, 97, a long time resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at Kingswood Health Center on September 11, 2011. Born February 8, 1914 in Albany, Missouri to Holly and Elmer Sullenger, where she grew up and taught school in Evona’s one-room school house. She married Lawrence B. Bennett, September 29, 1934. Lawrence preceded her in death in 2003. Lorraine and Lawrence were members of the Red Bridge Christian Church. They were avid bridge players and enjoyed other activities like golf, Royals baseball and bingo for recreation. She is survived by two daughters Marilyn B. Klee and husband George, Lauren S. Cameron and husband Roger; four grandchildren Brad Klee, Kathy Wood and husband Dale, Kenneth Klee and wife Robyn, Joseph Cameron and wife Diana. She had eight great-grandchildren Nicole Nichter and husband Chad, Mark and John Wood, Garrett, Mason and David Klee, Christopher and Catherine Cameron. Lorraine took classes at NW Missouri State College and later at Central Missouri State College. She taught as a substitute teacher in the Hickman Mills School District, then worked at the KCMO Board of Education until she retired. Her family would like to thank the Kingswood staff for their concern and care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
