

Louis (Lou) George Snyder, 93, formerly of Hoboken, New Jersey, and Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home in Grandview, Missouri on October 18, 2024. He was born on May 6, 1931, to the late Josephine Domenica (Cossolini) Snyder and Louis George Snyder in Hoboken, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Phyllis Gene Snyder. He is survived by seven children: Louis, Susan Duff, Kathleen Lambert, Walter, Stephen (Cindy), Ida Bowen (James), and Andrew (Amy). Lou was a loving Poppi (grandfather) to twenty-four grandchildren: Rachel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Matthew, Joshua, Jeremy, John-Mark, Weston, Heather, Audrey, Andrew, James, Catherine, John, Mary, Philip, Joseph, Cecilia, Anne, Louis, Paul, Andrew, Christopher, and Nicholas; and to eighteen great-grandchildren.
Lou was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor for his actions while serving in Vietnam. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-four years of dedicated service.
Lou was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and held the office of Grand Knight. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who would often reference “love of God, family, and country.” He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
A Visitation will be held and the Rosary will be prayed for Lou on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church at 13000 Bennington Avenue in Grandview, Missouri, on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10:30 AM. A Committal Service will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
