Lyla Jones

Lyla Bray Jones, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was born in St. Clair County, Missouri on February 17, 1929 to Clyde Bray and Pearl Russell Bray who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by one brother; Woodrow Bray and one sister; Lorene Bray. She is survived by one sister; Lucille Bray Donnell and one brother; Leo Bray (Alice). She was married to Ervin Jones in 1947 who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three daughters; Sherry Jones Bailey (Gary), Debby Jones Bliss (Mark), Jeanne Jones Hallum (Mark Smith), two granddaughters; Shonna Bailey Nichols (Rick), Alisa Hallum and three grandsons; Brandon Bailey (Gina), Carson Bailey (Amber) and Dennis Hallum (Jessie); five great granddaughters; Kayla Nichols, Hunter Nichols, Haley Townley, Bailey Nichols and Eloise Bailey; three great grandsons; Jayden Bolbecker, Dodge Hallum and Cullen Hallum.

She was a 1947 graduate of Lowry City, Missouri high school and received her Associate of Arts degree in 1985 from Longview College. She retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1990.

A special thanks to her caregivers at the Essex House of Grain Valley, especially to Sherry Connor who for the past 22 months has provided the most loving care possible and outstanding support for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in her name to Wayside Waifs or any Animal Rescue organization of your choice.

Family and friends will celebrate Lyla’s life on Sunday, Sept 20; with visitation at 2:00 pm and services at 3:00 pm at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E 47th Street, KCMO, 816 353-6555.
