Mackey Otterson Wilcoxon

Mackey Otterson Wilcoxon passed away May 22, 2017.He was born March 7, 1927 to Maurice and Vivian Wilcoxon on a farm near Columbus, MO. He served in the Army at the end of WWII. Upon leaving the service he attended Central Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. While attending college he met his future wife Margaret Wiseman. They were married August 14, 1952. He began his 31-year teaching career in 1952. He taught four years at Mayview, MO and the remaining years at Center High School in Kansas City. After retiring, he enjoyed farming.

Mackey was a 60 year member of Holmeswood Baptist Church. He loved teaching, farming, his church and his family. He was a true Christian every day.

He was preceded in death by his sister Retha Cumberland and brother Schooley Wilcoxon. He is survived by his wife Margaret, two sons Kent and wife Kris, Kevin and wife Chisa, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and sisters Lavonne Hulver and Iris Schooley.

A visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, May 26th at the Holmeswood Baptist Church, 9700 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27th at the church. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holmeswood Baptist Church.
