Margaret I. "Peggy" Thomas passed away June 3, 2014 at Sunrise of Leawood, Kansas. Peggy was born July 16, 1931 to parents Robert E. O’Dwyer and Eula M. Garrison. She graduated Westport High School in 1948 and was a sorority member. Peggy married Robert G. Thomas in 1953. Prior to marriage she worked for Travelers Insurance Company. Peggy then went on to raise her family. In 1983 she worked at the USDA as a grain traffic controller.
Peggy enjoyed music, especially playing the piano. She was a longtime member of her church, joining as a youth and was married at the church.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband in May, 2010, daughter Karen M. Thomas in May 1996, and brother, Robert O’Dwyer. She is survived by her son James R. Thomas, grandson Kevin D. Thomas, nephew Michael O’Dwyer and wife Bonnie, sister in law Hattie O’Dwyer, nephew Donald Meyers and his father George.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Community Christian Church, 4601 Main, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment in Mount Moriah Cemetery South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
