Margie was born June 12, 1933, to Marie and James “Mac” McGinnis. She was the oldest of two daughters. Margie and her sister Shirley were very close and were inseparable as kids. Shirley passed in 2010. They grew up living next door to their grandparents in Kansas City, Missouri and Margie graduated from Northeast High School in 1951.
Margie married Bob Morrow in 1952 and they gave birth to their son, Dan in 1956 and they lived down the street from her parents. After twenty years of marriage Margie and Bob divorced. Margie met Bob Davison and they married in September 1973. They were a blended family and had five children between them. She loved all the kids like they were her own. Margie and Bob were married forty-eight years until his passing in 2021.
Margie worked both in private industry and public service. She worked at General Motors straight out of high school. Everyone in the family worked at G.M. at some point including her father (Production Manager of Leeds Plant), Bob Morrow, Dan, and Shirley’s husband Jack, to name a few. She then spent years working for the Federal Government, starting with the General Services Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, and was selected to assist the Secretarial Representative in the newly created Department of Transportation. She loved working for Admiral R. R Waesche and meeting with local, state, and other government officials. Her professionalism was recognized by numerous awards bestowed not only within the DOT, but by other Federal agencies with whom she worked. She was extremely knowledgeable and trained and assisted other employees.
Bob and Margie worked together at the FAA and both retired in 1975. They moved to Ft. Myers, Florida and built a house on Sanibel Island in 1983. Margie was retired for about a year before she took an interest in real estate. She quickly learned the real estate business and acquired her license, as well as other certifications. Initially the interest was just for fun but something about real estate and being your own boss turned on her light switch.
They lived on Sanibel Island, Florida for many years and as she continued to sell real estate, there didn’t seem to be many houses nearby that she had not sold at least once. Selling real estate was a passion and Bob supported her even though he didn’t understand why she wanted to work so hard at that point in her life. Margie was a social butterfly and dealing with clients was just like doing a favor for new friends. The thing about Margie and her love of real estate was the negotiation. She loved that part. Margie served as president of the real estate board and received many awards as well as qualifying for the Statewide Florida Realtors Honor Society at least 16 times.
They were very involved in the Sanibel Community and their Church community. They attended McGregor Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, Florida, and were regular Sunday school members for twenty years. Margie loved to play the organ. Their friends from church became their best friends and they missed them when they relocated back to Kansas City in 2018 to be close to family. After Bob passed, Margie moved to Kearney in 2021.
Margie and Bob were a true love story. Bob was completely devoted to Margie, and she was treated like a queen. He put Margie on a pedestal, and they had a wonderful life together. They traveled all over the world and experienced life to the fullest in every way. They traveled to places like: Egypt, Spain, China, Israel, Russia, Algiers, Switzerland, and Italy; pretty much everywhere. Bob and Margie shared many of these adventures with her parents and she was a devoted daughter.
She loved to sew, golf, and she loved walking the beach and shelling. She was always put together, beautifully dressed, hair and makeup done, and she wore gorgeous jewelry. She was fancy but always up for an adventure. She was a great cook, loved going out to eat and enjoyed martinis and wine. She was known for being “fashionably late”. People loved her everywhere she went. She was a hugger, kisser, and she was affectionate. She took a genuine interest in people. She made people feel special. She was genuine and had a big caring heart. Margie loved her dogs and fed them people food. Margie always had the latest, greatest, newest thing. She was important and respected and loved. Margie loved her family.
Margie was a devout Christian and was the first person in her immediate family to be saved at the age of around sixteen. She said that once she was saved, she never had any fear of anything in life and that it gave her courage and strength and always made her feel safe.
Margie is preceded in death by her parents Marie and James “Mac” McGinnis, her sister Shirley (Jack), and husband Bob.
Margie is survived by her children Dan Morrow, Sue Glebe, Bruce Davison, Trish Nelson, and Liz Gunnigle. She had many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved and her legacy will live on for generations.
