Marilyn J. Coons

Marilyn Jane Coons, known to her friends as Lynn, of Kansas City, MO passed away on September 6, 2017. Visitation from 6-8pm on Monday, Sept. 11th at McGilley & Sheil Chapel with Rosary recited at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Tuesday, Sept. 12th at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr., Kansas City, with a graveside service to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Lynn was born to Leo and Helen (Rick) Carbrey on February 6, 1935 in St. Louis, MO. Lynn married Richard in 1956 and they have spent 61 wonderful years together. She lived for her family and was the happiest when her immediate, extended and assumed family members were around her. Lynn and Richard bought a house at Lake of the Ozarks in 1978; it was a constant gathering place for friends and family over its 40-year span. Her lake friends naturally became a part of her extended family.

Lynn was a key partner to helping Richard start and run Darco Equipment over the last 40+ years. She greatly enjoyed her morning excursions to the gym and her friends there, meeting with her Taco Tuesday group and she was known to make some really spectacular quilts over the years. Lynn brought great joy to everyone she met with her smile, laugh and great ability to laugh at herself. There was no stranger to Lynn; she greeted everyone in her daily routine, bringing a smile to their face.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Richard and three sons, Joe Coons (Kathie), Dean Coons (Cynthia) and Chris Coons (Manju); two daughters, Kelly O’Brien (Keith) and Karen Coons; sisters, Kay Longstaff and Pat O’Brien and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
