Marge was born on July 30, 1927, to Imogene Ewing, a single parent in Aurora, CO. She grew up with a strong independent mother who as a single parent worked for Eleanor Roosevelt in Washington, DC and owned and operated her own apartment building in Excelsior Springs, MO. As a young daughter, Marge was exposed to a world with strong women as role models. After graduating high school, she went on to study Art at Kansas University. One of her first jobs was working for Hallmark as an art Designer.
Women at that time didn’t get the money or the credit for the fantastic artwork they produced but she loved her job and produced many cards for the company. For a short time, she worked for Walt Disney in the design studio as well. She loved drawing and painting.
In 1955 she met Glenn Baslee on a blind date. Love at first sight. They were married 6 months later in July of 1956. They went on to have two beautiful children, Leisha and Gregg.
Marge had a promising career, however when her first child was born, she decided to dedicate her life to being the best wife and mother, staying home to take care of her family. Marge excelled at and
supported in all ways Glenn who worked at General Motors and Leisha and Gregg. She made it her passion to improve the lives of others.
After the birth of her first child, they joined the Foursquare church on Linwood Blvd. She has been a strong and contributing member to the Foursquare church for over 64 years serving as Sunday school
teacher, a member of the choir, and so many other activities wherever she was needed. Marge was still passionate about Arts and Crafts throughout her life. She loved sewing and would make many of the clothes for her children others. Painting was a strong passion also. She enjoyed being a member of a painting club and painted many wonderful landscapes. She could be found any given day on the back porch filled with paint brushes and canvases, creating her next masterpiece. Marge always loved to cook for the family. We had a pie or cake being made daily- she loved to collect cookbooks and try new things to eat. The last day here, she enjoyed a crafts class, attended a music sing-along knowing all the words and singing right along, it was a good day. We will miss her Greatly.
