Marjorie was born on October 24, 1938, in Smith Center, Kansas. She lived a life defined by service, generosity, faith, and deep love for family and community.
Marjorie earned her Registered Nursing degree from Mary Lanning School of Nursing at Hastings College in 1959. Marjorie’s nursing career started in Nebraska before moving to Kansas City, where she became Head of Nursing at Cliff Manor in Riverside, Missouri. During her 38 years of dedicated service, she provided certificate level training to many nursing students and formed countless long-lasting relationships. Following her time at Cliff Manor, Marjorie continued her nursing career at Spelman St. Luke’s North, North Hills Psychiatric Hospital, and Trinity Lutheran Hospital.
Marjorie was known as one of the kindest and most generous people, both professionally and personally. Throughout her career and her life, she worked tirelessly to make the lives of others better.
In 2011, Marjorie retired to her home in south Kansas City, where she and her beloved husband, Norman Springer, her partner of 57 years, enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. Marjorie cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. One of her grandchildren is following in her footsteps in pursuit of a nursing degree.
Marjorie loved working with her hands and completed countless needlepoint projects and handmade thousands of greeting cards over the years.
Marjorie was a woman many aspired to emulate—steadfast, compassionate, and always able to say exactly the right words to bring comfort to others. Marjorie was a true servant of both people and the Lord.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her son, Brian; her grandson, Bryan; and granddaughter, Claire.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Courtney Springer and his wife Julie and their daughters, Katherine and Gabrielle; her grandson, Ryan Springer and wife Emily and their son Paxton; her brother, Everett Goebel and wife Pat and their daughter Annette (Tyler) Schwartz; and many nursing friends, church friends and prayer warriors.
The Springer family is deeply grateful to the many friends and family members who remained in constant contact with Marjorie and provided love and support.
