July 18, 1961 – May 4, 2022
Mark Kevin Reffitt, age 60, passed away and met Jesus on May 4th, 2022. He was born in Kansas City, MO on July 18th, 1961, to Fred and Jo Ann Reffitt.
He graduated from Raytown High School in 1980 where he met his high school sweetheart Diane, the love of his life. Mark and Diane were married on May 8th, 1981. They raised three children, Nicole, Mark and Seth.
Mark is survived by his wife Diane, three children Nicole, Mark and Seth, four grandchildren Colby, Lexi, Gunner and Lennox which were his pride and joy; mother Jo Ann Reffitt-Foster, her husband Bob; siblings Pam Tague (Pat), Fred Reffitt (Debbie), and Heidi Sieger (Richard “Pup”); mother-in-law Judy Pohnert, sister-in-law Donna Lenahan (Heath), brother-in-law Jeff Pohnert (Dee), many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Ray Reffitt, grandparents Charles and Mildred Reffitt, Leroy “Pete” and Frances Miller and father-in-law Carl Pohnert.
Mark had a passion for fishing which grew from time spent with his father and brother. He shared this passion with his daughter, sons, and grandkids. The true embodiment of a fisherman was to keep their favorite spots a secret, he was very good at doing that. His stories were lavishly told with no detail spared. He knew how to keep a captive audience which brought tremendous joy, laughter, and often tears to your eyes. We all looked forward to the annual fish fry and enjoyed every bite.
Chiefs and Royals games created a love and hate relationship for Mark. He always had colorful commentary to share. He enjoyed watching games with his children, brother and friends.
At the age of 47, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Connection Point church and made many lifelong friends.
Mark was a fighter! He was strong and fought hard through many medical challenges his entire life, beginning at age three. Doctors felt he would only live six months, however our Heavenly Father had bigger plans for him. He was a true miracle and gift from God. This is not a battle lost but rather won because death was already defeated on the cross. He can now finally breathe as he has the breath of eternal life and is now in the presence of Jesus.
A Visitation for Mark will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Connection Point Church, 10500 E. State Line Rte. 350, Raytown, MO 64138, followed by a Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Garden, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., 64133
