Marvin Dwight Dickerson

Marvin Dwight Dickerson, 87, Kansas City, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015, with his family at his side. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 27, at 2:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City. A visitation will precede the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery.

Dwight was born Nov 29, 1927 to Dale and Eva Dickerson in Putnam County, Missouri. He served in the Navy during World War II. On April 28, 1946 he married the former Leatrice McCormack and they enjoyed 63 years together, until her passing in 2010. The couple settled in Kansas City where Dwight excelled as a Precision Sheet Metal Worker. He was an Elder at the Claycomo Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, and his dear wife, Leatrice, Dwight is preceded in death by brothers Melvin and William Dickerson and a sister, Imogene Smith. Survivors include daughters Linda (Larry) Thomas and Sandra (Patrick) Adams; grandchildren Michael (Stacey) Thomas, Ryan (Katie) Thomas, and Steven (Lacey) Adams; great-grandchildren Pierce Thomas and Lanie Hochenauer; beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
