Kathy passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2023. She was born on October 28, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Camden Point, Missouri and graduated from North Platte High School in 1967. She attended William Jewell College and upon graduation began her career as a cartographer for Defense Mapping Agency in Kansas City, Missouri. In December 1991 she took a job in Denver as a cartographer with the Department of Transportation and remained there until she retired in 2008. During her working career she was also a member of the Army National Guard for over 20 years.
In 2010 Kathy moved back to Kansas City to be closer to her sister and further her spiritual journey at the Center for Spiritual Living (CSLKC). Kathy’s spiritual studies culminated with her becoming a CSL Prayer Practitioner in 2020. As a Practitioner she was co-leader of the Care and Comfort team, and she was a go-to volunteer for running CSL presentations as a member of the CSLKC media team. Beyond these roles, Kathy was a trusted friend in the CSL community and beyond. She was an unrelenting calming force even in the face of a storm.
A talented artist, she participated in many art shows and art fairs in Denver and Kansas City. Creating art was a great passion of Kathy’s life, and she shared her talents generously with family and friends. Kathy loved to travel and Bali was a favorite destination, as well as Spain. A trip to Thailand in January 2024 was her next stop but God had other plans. She was needed there.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Muriel Baughman, and a half-brother William Baughman. She is survived by her sister Elaine Stremel (Philip), Joplin, MO, cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who loved her dearly.
