

Mary Kathryn Brabant, 94, a resident of the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO, formally of Raytown, MO left this earthly world on May 24, 2017. Visitation will be from 6-8pmon Tues., May 30th at the McGilley and Sheil Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am on Wed., May 31st at Our Lady of Lourdes, 7009 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mary was born in Kansas City, MO on March 3, 1923 to Edward and Mary Stuart. She was united in marriage on February 18, 1946 in Springfield, MO to Irvin Lawrence Brabant. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Jack and grandson, Christopher Brabant. Mary is survived by one sister, Peggy Latz; daughters, Marge Button (Daniel), Geri Schmitz (Ralph) and Pat Brabant; one son, Tom Brabant (Susan); grandchildren, Genevieve Triebel (Ryan), Adam and Daniel Brabant, Allison Boyd (Scott), Jonathan Schmitz and great-grandchildren, Reese and Jack Triebel.
Mary was an Army nurse at O’Reilly General Hospital where she met Irv. She retired from Truman East; where as an RN helped advance the practice of clinical nursing. She was a Girl Scout leader, past president Missouri State Commander of DAVA, and fondly remembered by her children and grandchildren as a fast and furious driver. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Missouri Veterans Home for her exceptional care.
