Mary Joan Conley

Mary Joan Conley, 84, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 24th at 9:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 West 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS, with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 West 87th Street, Overland Park, KS 66212.

Mary was born October 23, 1930 in Kansas City, KS to Francis John and Bertha Seavers (Blaisdell) McDonald. She graduated from Lillis High School. She married Paul A. Conley and raised 7 children. Mary and Paul were both very active in their children’s lives with boy scouts, girl scouts, band, sports, dance, music lessons and the PTA. Mary worked at the IRS for over 20 years. Her love for cooking and food inspired her to start her own part–time business, Conley’s Classic Catering. She was an active member of Queen of the Holy Rosary and St. Teresa’s Church Circle. Mary loved to dance and was a resident member of her Dance Club.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, her sister, Betty Ann Hoehn, her brother-in-law, Art Hoehn and her son-in-law, Joe Clune. She is survived by her sister, Rosalie (George) Schweiger; children, Gary (Esther) Conley, Bruce Conley, Carol Clune, Diane (Mac) McLane, Paula Conley, Barry (Kardi) Conley and Nancy Conley (her favorite daughter); 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to express sincere gratitude especially to Patti Nelson and Janet Thompson for their never ending love and care of Mom. A special thank you to Patti P., Mary Z., Lauren M. and Annamarie P. for their kindness and compassion. Many thanks to Catholic Community Hospice and everyone for their prayers love and support.
