Her family would like to thank the staff at New Mark Care Center, Continua Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Association for their outstanding care and support.
Mary was born December 5, 1922, in Kansas City, MO, to Charles P. and Mary E. (Campbell) Deveney, Sr., who precede her in death. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where, among other offices held, she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post #322, in Englewood, Colorado. She served as President of the Board at Cathedral Square Apts., Kansas City, MO. She attended both St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Kansas City. Mary was also active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians. All of these associations represented her commitment to the service of her community, beginning with her involvement in the PTA and Boys Scouts of America. Although she spent most of her life in Kansas City, MO, she lived in Colorado for approximately 15 years.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two husbands, Jack Cooley and Ben Crawford and a grandson, Brent Cooley. Mary is survived by four sons, Dennis Cooley (Ruby), Lake View, IA; Jim Cooley (Vicky McRoberts), Denver, CO; Tom Cooley (Diane), Kansas City, MO; and Richard Cooley (Mary), Divide, CO; sister Catherine (Ann) Chin of Arkansas; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is loved and missed by many. We will fondly remember Mother as a devout Catholic, a loving wife and mother, with sharp wit, fun-loving nature and strong willpower.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A Reed Rd, Kansas City, MO.
