Mary Ann Heim

Mary Ann Heim, 85 years young, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 2nd, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Nativity, 3800 West 119th, Leawood, KS, with burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Lansing, KS, next to her husband. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1st at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict’s Abbey, 1020 North 2nd Street, Atchison, KS, 66002-1499.

George and Anna Sterner welcomed Mary Ann into their family on April 7, 1926. She had six brothers and sisters, Paul Sterner, George Sterner, Joe Sterner, Vince Sterner, Bob Sterner and Josephine White; all who have preceded her in death. Mary Ann attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and Bishop Hogan high school. She was married to the love of her life, Herbert A. Heim, on September 18, 1948 and enjoyed her life as a homemaker in Kansas City and Tucson, Arizona. She was totally devoted to her family. Mary Ann has two daughters, Susan White (Paul) of Kansas City, Missouri and Linda Heim (Mike) of Overland Park, Kansas. She has five grandchildren; Sarah (Dan) Newman, Matthew (Jennifer) White, Andrew (Megan) White, Nate (Robin) Heim, and Molly White. She has one great-grandchild, Bailey Heim.

Mary Ann was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. She was devotedly cared for by Sunrise Assisted Living and Continua Hospice Care where she will be remembered for her strength, courage, and humor while facing Alzheimer’s Dementia.
