
Mary McWhorter Quick, 80, died October 10, 2010 with her family by her side. She was born August 24, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Albert William and Mary Mildred McWhorter. She was a graduate of Northeast High School and UMKC, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She married David Lee Quick on October 11, 1952. They were married more than 53 years until his death in 2006. Mary was a teacher in the KCMO School District until she became a full time homemaker in1958. Throughout her lifetime she was involved with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, her daughters’ school PTAs, Girl Scouts, PEO Chapter CF and various charities. She was a life long learner who enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, travel and political discussions. She had the rare quality of having an opinion without being judgmental of others. Mary lived everyday, including her last, with grace, dignity and humor. Her unconditional love for her family and friends is her greatest legacy. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Dana and Jim Bartimus, Dede and Dave Goehler, and Megan and Dave Leathers: and her grandchildren, Adam, Philip and Ian Bartimus, Mary Madison Goehler, and Jason and Mary Kelsey Leathers.
