

Mary Lee Proctor See, a resident of Leawood, Kan., died on April 15, three days after celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born on the family farm in Boone County, Mo., to Adlai M. Proctor and Nelle Crane Proctor. She married Edward B. See in 1940. They lived in St. Louis and Webster Groves until 1998 when they moved to Leawood to be near their children. They were married 68 years until he died at age 93 in 2009.
Mary Lee was a kind and loving mother who embraced her role with honor and enthusiasm. She was a community volunteer who loved gardening, Bridge, quilting and cooking (especially her chocolate cake), but most of all she loved her family.
Mary Lee is survived by her daughter, Susan Strongman and husband Tom of Leawood; son Andrew and wife Karen of Leawood; granddaughter Kristen Swanson, husband Steve and their children, Andy and Ellen of Leawood; and grandson Jon Strongman, his wife Laura and their children, Grace, Tyler and Benjamin of Prairie Village.
Her brothers Dr. John William Proctor of Columbia and Dr. Donald C. Proctor of Sedalia preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 75th Street and Nall Ave., Prairie Village. Burial will be in Columbia, Mo., at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21.
