Mary Elizabeth (Ruppe) Wetzel (born May 30, 1972), extraordinary mother to Janey and Griffin Wetzel, beloved daughter to Tom and Charlotte Ruppe, wonderful and dearly loved sister to five siblings, fun aunt to cousins Nick, Alex, Jack, Erin, Kai, Trevi Ruppe, loyal and dear friend to the core, and impactful community member, passed away on October 22, 2015.
Mary raised the bar to motherhood, being very intentional in how she was developing little people into adults yet balancing that with making every day memorable and fun. She had a unique knack of turning every day moments into special events, whether leading a marching band of toddlers around the house, turning up the tunes to create a kitchen family dance party, or turning a home movie night into a “PAR-TAY” for the kids, all leaving Janey and Griffin with memories they will cherish and forever hold dear. Janey and Griffin were her world and she loved them so, so very deeply. She was so in tune with their essence and could sooth their hurts and celebrate their joys like no other. Her proudest accomplishment is the two amazing people Janey and Griffin have become and providing them with the foundation needed to grow into incredible adults.
Mary felt things deeply, was energetic, passionate, witty and so very fun. She was loyal, lived up to her commitments and when she said she was “in” she was all in, bringing all her creativity, excitement and talent to the table, whether investing in relationships, helping a friend, or working for a cause. She can rest knowing that she left it all on the field.
