It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Maureen Cheri Krahn (neé Williams) of Overland Park, Kansas. Maureen entered eternal rest on May 24, 2023, after a short illness, bravely borne.
Maureen was born in New York City, NY in 1945 to Glen and Cecilia. She received a degree in Home Economics from Kansas State University in 1967 and married her friend and love, James, shortly after graduation. Daughter Julie was welcomed in July 1969, and very shortly after Maureen joined Jim in Germany as he fulfilled his military service. Upon returning to the states, a second daughter, Kathleen, was welcomed in December 1972 and a third daughter, Colleen, in November 1974. Maureen lived life with much laughter, lightheartedness, and joy. If any experience could be made better with an Irish jig and a tune, Maureen was a whole-hearted participant. She deeply and lovingly connected to her Irish “Nana” from County Clare and celebrated the Irish homeland in many small and large ways. She loved life and took pride in creating beautiful meals, a beautiful home, and in enjoying time with her family and friends. Maureen remained a faithful Catholic throughout her life and served the church both as a singer and teacher of religious education. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and “Nana”, Maureen was a sales manager at a large department store.
Attentive and exuberant as a loving mother and grandmother, Maureen will be sadly missed by her daughters: Julie, Kathleen, and Colleen and grandchildren: Margaret, Sophia, Dolan, Jack, Benjamin, Michael, Joseph, Abbigail and Jacob; and great-grand-daughter, Eleanor. Beloved sister to Mary Eileen (William) Schaefer and fond cousin to Ellen Marie (Timothy) Damato, many happy memories of their time together will follow Maureen in her final rest. She will also be missed by sons-in-law Dwight, James, and Ward, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many life-long and recent friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and joy.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of twenty-four years, James, and her parents Glen and Cecilia (Mackey) Williams.
Memorial services will be celebrated on Friday, June 16th with visitation at 9:30am, followed by Mass at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 13615 W. 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS. Interment afterwards at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS.
