Maxine worked for more than 30 years at Allstate Insurance Company in a variety of roles. She was the first female to be selected as an insurance agent for the company. Both during and after retirement, Maxine was important to Allstate, serving on their employee advisory group. She was a vivacious, energetic, and a hard-working beautiful lady. She loved people, and they loved her. She made everyone laugh and was always optimistic and encouraging. Maxine was a loyal fan of the KC Royals and Chiefs. She loved music, was a fabulous dancer and a great cook. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother who gave everything so her children would be happy, healthy, and well-educated. Their accomplishments were a source of happiness to her. Maxine loved all children, but none more than her own grandchildren. Holidays (Christmas was her favorite!), parties and gatherings with family and friends were always delightful times. She will be missed by all. Maxine was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her stepfather. Survivors include: the love of her life, Russell Prewitt; her children: Karen Katen (Bob Williams) of New York, Patrick (Sandy) Katen of Chicago, and Donna (James) Katen-Bahensky of Madison, WI; sister, Madeline Spencer; brother James Montoya Jr; stepchildren: Steven Prewitt and Robin Noe. Left to cherish her memory are her three grandchildren: Alex Bahensky, Katherine Katen, and Alexandra Katen.
