Meredith Elaine Morgens

Meredith E. Morgens, 40, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from natural causes. She died at the home of her mother and stepfather, Rebecca and John Barbieri, surrounded by family and special friends.

She was born on April 13, 1980 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Rebecca Barbieri and Kenneth W. Morgens. Meredith suffered from a lifelong seizure disorder because of which she faced many health challenges. In the face of her health struggles she was a fighter, ever brave and patient. She made us all very proud to know and love her.

Meredith was sweet and kind and always a great companion. She loved outings with her mother and friends, including shopping, movies, and events at the Kauffman Center. She was especially fond of holiday parties and birthday parties at the group home where she lived. Her favorite times included visits from her dad and brother and his family.

Meredith attended Kansas City, MO public schools, Blue Springs Special Services, and Rainbow Options in Blue Springs, MO.

Meredith is survived by her mother, Rebecca Barbieri of Leawood, KS; father, Kenneth Morgens of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Adam (Krystal) Morgens and nieces, Colette and Vivienne Morgens of Los Angeles, CA; stepfather, John Barbieri; stepsisters, Celia Barbieri of Asheville, NC and Kenna (Ivailo) Grigorov and nephews, Alex and Lucca Grigorov of Overland Park, KS; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Meredith’s family will greet friends on Saturday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. The service and a reception following the service will be held at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
