Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years Jennifer Bosnak, his daughters Melissa Silsby (Mike) and Natalie Martinez (Carl), brother Gary (Linda), his aunts Shirley Muza (Gary), Lori and Diane Lasater, sister-in-laws Lisa Schnoor, Deena Boyd (Andy), Kathy Spandle (Gary), Karen Corder, brother-in-law Paul Bass (Debbie) plus many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Billie Bosnak, his in-laws Paul and Gloria Bass, his grandparents as well as many aunts, uncles and other immediate family.
Mike graduated from Raytown South High School in 1968. He grew up in Raytown with his younger brother Gary. They loved playing all sports and games which is something they shared throughout their childhood and adult lives. He married the love of his life Jennifer on March 8, 1973 and welcomed their first daughter Melissa in April of 1974. Natalie was born a few years later in May of 1977.
Mike loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, and spending time at the lake with friends and family. He was an avid hunter and had a group of friends more like family, that he hunted with for over 30 years. The relationships that started from hunting went far beyond just hunting…the stories and memories will last a lifetime.
Mike was the absolute best dad. He built a 2-story dollhouse by hand for his girls, was a softball coach for both teaching not only softball but patience, hard-work and determination. He had a special way after every game to take the time to share what they did well and what they could improve on. The girls couldn’t remember ever having to scrape their own windshield, get their own oil change, more often than not gas magically appeared in their cars and he was the dad who always waited up until they got home.
Mike was loved and adored by his grandchildren. He wouldn’t miss a sports game and was the happiest when they joined him in “the country” to hunt, fish and burn anything they could get their hands on. He would do anything for his grandkids. Drive hours away to a game, dress up as Santa at Christmas complete with his real full white beard, even let his granddaughters decorate him with jewelry. If the grandkids wanted it, it was going to happen.
Mike was many things to many people. He was a son, a husband, a father, a brother, a second dad to many, an uncle, a grandpa, a great-grandpa, a good neighbor, a coach, a friend. Everyone would agree he was great at being each. For someone who would say he wasn’t much of a people person, he sure touched a lot of lives in such a positive way. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A celebration of life event will be held “in the country” closer to spring for family and friends.
