

Michael “Mike” Lummis, beloved father, grandfather, and life partner, passed away on December 17, 2023, in Leawood, Kansas. Mike was born on June 7, 1941, in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Wesley and Dorothy Lummis.
In his educational pursuits, Mike graduated from Beloit Sr. High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas Wesleyan University, where he also played football. He later pursued a Master’s in Public Administration from The University of Missouri - Kansas City. Additionally, he studied Evangelization and Catechesis at Maryvale Institute.
Throughout his career, Mike made significant contributions in various fields. He served as the former Director of Risk Management at Stormont Vail Health and as the former Corporate Director of Legal Affairs at Health Midwest. He also taught EMT classes across Kansas, converted vans into ambulances, and served as a Deputy Sheriff in Saline County and Finney County.
Mike was a charismatic storyteller and joke teller, loved engaging in lively conversations and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was a devoted family man and passed on his tongue in cheek nature to his son Jeff and grandson Mitchell. Yearly trips home to Beloit for pheasant season were a special time for family and the basis of many humorous family stories.
Mike was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawk fan. He enjoyed attending games and cheering on his favorite teams. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf, especially with his son Jeff, grandson Mitchell, and brother Allan.
In his free time, he loved to travel with Annette, his life partner. Their trips to Hawaii, Italy and Sicily were some of his most cherished memories. Family trips to Hilton Head, Branson, Colorado, and California were also favorites. Mike was exceedingly proud of his grandsons Mitchell and Coleman and enjoyed encouraging Mitchell's love of golf and Coleman's love of music and robotics. Many hours were spent playing with another passion of trains.
Mike was also interested in genealogy and created extensive family trees for the Lummis and Nocita families. With his love of archaeology and history, he was always eager to uncover the stories of the past.
Mike found solace in his faith and was an active member of Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas. His participation in the Men's Prayer Group brought him great joy and the church provided him with spiritual guidance and support throughout his life.
Mike is survived by his daughter Jenifer (Bob) Baker of Columbia, MO, son Jeff (Lisa) Lummis of Topeka, KS, daughter Joliene Lummis of Topeka, KS, and grandson Mitchell Lummis of Parkville, MO. Michelle (Paul) Hayman, Anne Marie Gliddon, and grandson Coleman Gliddon. His nephews Brian Lummis, Garry Lummis, and his niece Sherri Lummis of Fresno, CA. He is also survived by Connie Lummis, the mother of his children.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved life partner of 50 years, Annette Craddock, and his brother, Allan Lummis of Fresno, CA.
Mike and his beloved life partner, Annette Craddock, will have a joint Visitation, Mass of Christian Burial, and Interment.
Visitation will be held at Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas from 9:00 to 10:45AM on January 5, 2024, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. Luncheon for all friends and family will follow the Mass. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery after the luncheon.
Memorial contributions can be made in Mike's name to Kansas Wesleyan University or Curé of Ars Catholic Church.
Mike will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. HIs legacy as a loving family man, dedicated professional, and spirited storyteller and jokester will be cherished forever.
