Michael John Murphy

Michael John Murphy, 61 of Kansas City, Missouri, died on July 7, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at All Saints Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 6th Avenue SW., Le Mars, IA. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars, IA.

Michael was born on December 5, 1953 in Le Mars, Iowa to John and Verna (Wulf) Murphy, who preceded him in death. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at St. Benedicts College, Atchison, KS. For the last 25 years, he was the owner and salesman for SPS Office Products. Michael was a very social person with traditional values for family and friends. He was characterized as “Stubborn, with a heart of gold”. Michael’s survivors include his partner of 34 years, Eric Threat, of the home; siblings, Rebecca Stadlman (Evan) of Ankeny, IA, Patrick Murphy, Le Mars, IA, Robert Murphy (Diana), Springfield, OR, Kathleen Connolly(George Gaffaney) Chicago, IL, and Jean Langie (Bob) of Deerfield, IL; ten nieces and nephews, Sean Stadlman, Megan Stadlman, Marisa Roseberry (Travis), Crystal Murphy and great-niece, Mikaela Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Jessica Clark and great-niece, Riley, Nathan Connolly, Kelly Connolly, Colleen Connolly and Diana Langie; and many friends he loved and who loved him. Michael’s family is grateful and thankful for the joy and support brought to Michael.
