Michael Angelo Pistone, 83, passed away on February 12, 2022. Michael was born on September 6th, 1938 to Alex and Caroline (Civello) Pistone, in Kansas City Missouri. He enjoyed his professional life starting at IBT, a regional leader in the power transmission and mechanical parts supply chain industry, where during his career he enjoyed training, outside sales, and opening new branches for nearly 40 years. His expertise in design and management earned him national recognition as an expert in this field. Additionally, after his retirement, he continued to provide onsite training and seminars nationwide for supply chain manufacturing and logistics. Michael always brought out the best in people, whether it was through his sense of humor, leadership, or his genuine compassion. He had a skill for seeing the potential in everyone and making the most out of it. Most important to Michael was his family life. He married the love of his life Kathleen Rose on April 29th, 1961. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary in 2021.
He and Kathleen raised 6 loving children together - Bernadette, Angela, Mary Ellen, Michael (Mick), Timothy, and Steven. They stressed the importance of family, kindness, and faith. Michael was a loving and supportive father, who enjoyed coaching his sons and their friends in football at St. Thomas More, and 3&2 Baseball. During the time his 3 daughters attended St. Theresa's Academy, he was involved with the Fathers Force Committee, the annual benefit auctions held to support the school and programs, and always enjoyed the Father/Daughter dances each year. Michael loved his granddaughters Sophia Pistone, Lily Gojcevic, Carley Pistone, and great grandson Aiden Williams of Denton Texas.
Michael was an inspired and talented guitar player, songwriter, and musician for over 60 years. It made him happy to bring music to all types of audiences and events including his daughters’ elementary school pancake breakfast, performances at local restaurants and events, and playing at many nursing homes around the city. Michael played in several bands, including Three's Country with D'Ann Dreiling and Tom Effertz, and later with Ken Cox as a duo, and one of his most enjoyable times was playing his guitar at home when relaxing.
For over 50 years, Mike and Kathy enjoyed their Saturday night running card game with lifelong friends Jim and Barbara Brous and Jerry and Sandy Cahill.
Anyone who knew Michael knew that he loved being around people too much to ever retire fully. An important part of Michaels later years and partial retirement, was working with Mount Moriah and McGilley Funeral Homes, where he made many lasting friends. He loved every part of the job and he always had stories to share. One of his favorite things was to drive families in the limousine. Not even the worst snowstorms could stop him from driving.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Caroline, and sister Vivian Krieger.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen; children Bernadette, Angela, Mary Ellen, Mick (Nicola), Timothy (Vicky), and Steven (Leslie); Grandchildren Sophia Pistone, Lily Gojcevic, Carley Pistone, and Great Grandson Aiden Williams.
