

Nancy Ruth Lopez “Sam” passed away on October 9, 2010, after an 18 month battle with Mesotheloma.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 15, 2010, Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist) Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Church where the Rosary was prayed at 8:00 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the KU Cancer Center.
“Sam” was born on August 6, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Erie Sr. and Ruth (Juarez) Lopez. She was preceded in death by her father and her nephew, Mark Anthony.
Nancy is survived by her mother, Ruth, of the home; brothers, Juan Manuel (Vickie), Ricardo (Elaine), Erie (Mary), Eddie (Linda), and Mark (Karen). Since Nancy never had children of her own, she treated her nieces and nephews as her own. Included are Andrea, Regina, Anita, Alicia Garcia (Fran), Melissa Papenfus (Matt), Ricardo Manuel (Jennifer), John Joe “Jay” (Evelyn), Diana, Joseph, David, Antonio, Luke and Lauren.
Nancy worked for the Circuit Court of Jackson County, working as a court clerk for the Honorable William F. Mauer and the Honorable Ann Mesle. Nancy was an avid Chiefs fan, often traveling to road games.
The Lopez family would like to thank Ray Balandran and Dolores Lopez Hernandez. Nancy will be missed by her family and friends.
