

NANCY GLOVER ROSS, 94, completed her life's journey on July 21, 2015 in Shawnee, Kansas. She was born on September 18, 1920 in Kansas City, MO to Missouri State Senator and lawyer Bernard Glover and his wife, Adelaide. She was the oldest of five children. Nancy graduated from Southwest High School in 1937. She was active in DAR for over 40 years and supported many charities such as the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. Survivors include: daughter Cheryl Kirkland Prideaux of Kansas City, MO; grandson Sean Prideaux of Liberty, MO; granddaughter Chera Prideaux Sheets of Castle Rock, CO and great-grandchildren: Noelle and Michael Prideaux and Evie and Annabeth Sheets. Nancy was raised, along with her four siblings Mary, Martha, Barbara and Bernard Jr. on Ward Parkway in Kansas City. She was active in high school, as president of the sorority/literary society, proofreader of the school paper, treasurer of the senior class and vice president of student council. She loved horses. She rode in the American Royal and taught English riding lessons as an adult in Lenexa, KS near her parent’s farm.
After Nancy married, she relocated to Washington DC, where she began her professional life at IBM. At the end of the WWII they returned to Kansas City and had a daughter. Nancy also spent time in her career as a teacher and secretary. Her passion was for civic service, as an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She served for over 40 years in chapters in several states. She was also very patriotic, often sporting the colors red, white and blue.
She will be remembered as an optimist who valued honesty and focused on continually moving forward. “The Power of Positive Thinking,” by Norman Vincent Peale was one of her all-time favorite books. Nancy was very vivacious, and strived to be healthy and active throughout her life. “Treat your body like a fine piece of machinery,” she said.
