Ora Lee Roby was born September 17, 1927 at Noble Lake, AR, the daughter of Nathaniel and Minnie Foster. Mother Roby was united in holy matrimony to Jerry Roby on January 7, 1948, and to this union two sons and eight daughters were born. She was a loyal, faithful, and dedicated member of Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church where served as President of the Mission Society among other ministries. Mother Roby accepted Christ at age 11 under the leadership of the late Rev. Joe Frazier, where she remained a loyal, faithful, and dedicated member until she moved to Grandview, MO.
Then she joined Second Missionary Baptist Church of Grandview under the leadership of Dr. Donald Ford until his passing. She continued to serve faithfully on the Mother Board under Bishop John Lewis.
Mother Roby was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel and Minnie Foster, husband Jerry Roby Sr., son Jerry Roby Jr., two sisters Dottie Franklin and Hattie Johnson, and three brothers Ernest Foster, Sullivan Foster, and George “Pete” Foster.
Mother Roby leaves to cherish her memory, son, William K. Roby, Irving, TX; eight daughters, Bobbie Walker, Duluth, GA; Bettie Flowers, Charlotte, NC; Dorothy Buxton, Omaha, NE; Hattie Jones, Virgie Dunlap (Herbert) Minnie Roby, Linda Roby, Sharon Bones, of Kansas City, MO; five granddaughters, thirteen grandsons, sixteen great grandchildren and many loving friends and family.
A visitation for Mother Roby will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Mt Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:30 am at Brown Funeral Home, 2704 Commerce Circle, Pine Bluff, AR 71601. Burial in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
