Orlando Leonardo Herrera

Orlando was born November 6, 1935 to Doroteo Marciel and Rosa (Velasco) Herrera in Havana, Cuba. He moved to Kansas City in 1961. On January 16, 1965 he married Donna Leverich at Assumption Catholic Church in Kansas City. To this union were born two daughters, Stacey and Andrea; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jorge Herrera, Ramiro Herrera, and Guillermo Herrera; a sister, Violeta Willis; a sister-in-law, Margie (Leverich) Whitlatch; and two nephews, Robert Whitlatch, Jr. and Matthew Whitlatch.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; two daughters, Stacey Gonzalez and husband, "Eddie"; Andrea Herrera-Shumate and husband, David; five grandchildren, Brianna Shumate, Adrian Shumate, Matthew Gonzalez, Alexis Gonzalez, and Roxanne Gonzalez; sisters-in-law, Gladys Herrera and Roxanne Sweeney (Larry); brothers-in-law, Gary Leverich (Karen) and James Leverich; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Wake will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, December 9th, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
