

Paul M. Burger, 77, passed away September 28, 2013. Paul was born May 26, 1936 in Akron, OH son of Harry C. and Dorothy (Gibbons) Burger. He spent his early years in Wilmington, DE and Trenton, NJ, after college moving to Chicago. He graduated from Villanova University with a BA in Business. He then moved to KS where he met his wife Carroll Bear and on February 1, 1974, they united their families, three sons and a daughter. He worked as a real estate developer in the Kansas City area for many years, Paul M. Burger & Company, and developed Briarwood Estates and Amber Hills Estates in Olathe, KS, retiring in 2000. After retirement Paul was associated with and became a limited partner at Cloverleaf Office Park.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Paul was Past President of the Home Builders Association receiving the Hall of Fame Award in 1998. He was also a member of the Indian Hills Country Club and LaQuinta Country Club. Second to family, Paul loved boating. He was an accomplished sailor and Captain of his beloved “Ocean Romance” on which he spent many summers exploring the San Juan Islands in the U.S. and Gulf Islands in Canada with Carroll, family and many dear friends. Paul loved to travel, play golf, and especially spend time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Burger is survived by his wife Carroll (Bear) Burger; son Mike (Jami) Burger; daughter Jennifer (John) Weir; son Chip (Tami) Burger; son Greg (Kris) Burger; sister Diane (Bill) Jones; grandchildren Tina Burger, Spencer Burger, Chandler Burger, Brock Saturno, Cooper Saturno, Lyndsi (Phil) Oestmann and Tyler Clear; and two great-granddaughters Elisabeth and Adrienne. He was also a wonderful uncle to several nieces and nephews, and a beloved friend to many.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS 66208. Entombment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church; Catholic Charities, 301 E. Armour Rd., Ste. 650, Kansas City, MO 64111; or charity of donor’s choice
