Phyllis Ann Cates

Phyllis Ann (Schoor) Cates, age 86 of Raymore Mo, passed away May 20, 2019 at Meadow View of Harrisonville Health & Rehabilitation. Phyllis was born in Lakin, KS on May 10, 1933 to Claud and Bitha Schoor.

Phyllis was blessed to marry the love of her life, Norman Ray “Bud” Cates on May 18, 1951. She was a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a homemaker, loved to bake, sew and working with numerous crafts. She attended the Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday School, Children's Church, Missionettes. She was involved in several ladies bible studies. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren making clothes for them, teaching them to bake cookies. Also, involved in their schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Norman Cates. Her parents, Claud and Bitha Schoor, two brothers, Herbert Lee Schoor and Charlie Schoor, Daughter-in-law Terri L (Rhodes) Cates.

She is survived by her two sons Eddie Cates and George Cates of Pleasant Hill, MO, one daughter Linda Waugh (Wes) of Belton Mo, Grandchildren Kristy Cates of Pleasant Hill Mo, Carrie Bell of Riverside, MO. Andrew Waugh, Martin Waugh, Sarah Waugh of Belton Mo. Great Grandchildren Zoie Cates and Mandy Powell of Pleasant Hill, Mo. Cola Dunn, Levi Dunn and Anthony Bell. One Brother Walter Schoor of Smithville, MO. One Sister Claudeana Price (Manuel) of Independence, MO. And other loving family and friends.

Services will be Friday, May 31, 2019. Visitation 11:00 A.M., Funeral Service 12:00 P.M., Graveside Service to follow at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Crossroads Hospice.
