Phyllis Ann Cooper

Phyllis Ann Cooper, 86, of Mexico, MO passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, with visitation at 1:30 PM, on Tuesday, December 1, at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Chapel in Kansas City, MO. Phyllis was born July 16, 1929 to Dr. Q. W. and Mildred (Barnes) Wilson in Wichita, Kansas. As a young woman, Phyllis showed three and five gaited saddle bred horses throughout the Midwest. She attended the University of Kansas and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. It was there that she met her first husband, Dr. Dwight Hause with whom she had her three children. On July 16, 1965, she married Alfred J Cooper. They lived in Kansas City, MO then moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1976 with Al’s work at the Lynn Insurance Group before returning back to Lee’s Summit, MO in 1986. Phyllis and Al were active members of several churches over the years including Bales Baptist, Wornall Road Baptist and Colonial Presbyterian, all in Kansas City and Coral Ridge Presbyterian in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Phyllis moved to Mexico, MO in 2012.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her beloved sister, Janet Wilson Pressly. She deeply loved her children Peggy (Hause) Ball of Toronto, Canada, Reverend Drew Hause, M.D. and wife Beth Jones, M.D. of Glendale, Arizona and Nancy (Hause) Bunge, M.D. and husband Michael of Mexico, Missouri; her grandchildren, Doug Ball and Erica Ball of Toronto, David Bunge and wife Amy and Katie Bunge, all of St. Louis, MO and Kevin Bunge of Brooklyn, New York ; 2 great-grandsons Harrison and Beckett Bunge; and her brother-in-law Laurence Pressly and niece Laurie Schwab (husband Tim and son Benjamin) of Lee’s Summit.
