kat, you know how I feel so not much more can be said here.  YOur family will be in my thoughts so y'all take care of each other and remember he is in a better place now.  He and his family will be keeping an eye on y'all so not to worry.

To my Kansas City Family:
This is a sad time for all of us.  Ray was quite a guy in many ways.  Above all, I think he was a very kind person.  He loved his kids and his wife Kitty.  I had many good times with all of you.  May he rest in peace.  Love to all of you.

Mr. Gardner was a great man from a great generation. His generation left their homes and stood against the enemy without complaining. Our nation owes him and we all owe him honor and graditude for his selfless deeds. I'm sure it wasn't easy for him but he did it anyway. He cared more for his family & country than himself. 

Of course I will be keeping the Gardner family in my prayers, but I want to say, "Thank you Raymond Gardner. You are a hero in my book."

He is with the Lord now and the Bible says that he is experiencing "fullness of joy." He is at peace, but he will be missed.

To the whole family....don't think I will ever forget Whitey as long as I am alive.  Sorry for your loss, how many great stories will be told for years to come......He was a "Good Man"!

I never met Whitey, but heard wonderful thoughts and memories from other's. I'm very honored and greatful to have his beautiful daughter Kathie Gardner - Miller as my sister-in-law, and friend. My brother Bill loved Whitey, he said he was one great man. May the Lord Bless him as he is now resting in his arms in PARADISE.

Kitty, Fred, Kathie, Boo Boo and family.  What can we say except, when we look across the street we think of very good and fond memories of Ray "Whitey".  We still look over at the Back 40 and miss the group of cackling men. Some stories you could believe and others ??.  

Ray would come over and talk and a beer was always there.  We would always race to see who could grow the first red tomato. He loved his garden.

We always enjoyed the signs in the tree in the Back 40.  Kitty would read the latest one, and just shake her head.

Ray, we will meet again.  Who knows, maybe we might even have another beer together.

We could never have hoped for better neighbors.

Grpa Raymond is at peace, no more pain.  He will always be a great father, grandfather, great grandfather & friend to everyone who loved him.

Aunt Kitty and family, I'm very sorry to hear about Uncle Ray.  I remember many trips to KC when I was growing up and my favorite times were spent with my uncle.  I will always remember the times when he took us to his cabin for some fishing and the occasional frog hunting.  In later years I loved to visit him at the "Back 40" for a few beers.  He was always very kind to me and I'm sure to everyone he met and I will miss him very much.

My prayers are with the Gardners. Raymond was an amazing man. Everyone who knew him shared a laugh,good food,and a proud man. He was happy next to his garden and his family and home. He truly will be missed.

There were many summers I spent more time at the Gardner's house than I did at my own. Of course that was just across the street. Ray and Kitty have always been like a second set of parents to me.  Ray keep the bath water warm for me!

I have so many fond memories of the Gardner family. One of the best would be the 4th of July picnics with Raymond and his smoker cooking up those great bbq ribs. Great times with good people. Love to all, he will be missed.

Dear Kitty, Kathy, Fred and Boo,
Our hearts are sad with you all,at the loss of Rame and the huge void that is now in our Family. I know our Dad hurts as well at the loss of his cousin, who was like a brother to him. May our Lord comfort all of us in a special way as we remember Rame and the special place he held in our hearts. And, may the light of our Lord perpetually shine upon him.

If you knew him at all, you would have a story.  He may be gone, but never forgotten.

Grandma Gardner always said "they broke the mold when that one was born" and for those who knew him, no truer words were spoken.  We could write a book on the stories we have.  Daddy, you were a man who did things YOUR way, even until the end.  You were loved so very much and will be missed more than you will ever know.  Until we meet again, you, Julie and Sky save the rest of us a place.  I love you Daddy!

Although I cannot attend Raymond's funeral and be there in your support, my thoughts and strength are with you.

His eulogy will undoubtedly be as colorful as was his life and I think that can be best be summed up as -- he is still "Gardnering".  Additionally I think the song "My Way" would create varied and unique images among the listeners as they relate it to Mr. Gardner.  

We all learned a great deal from Whitey.  Some by example (work ethic, intellect, honesty, sense of humor) but most by yarns spun around a hickory fire involving basic truths and genuine kindness that he shared with those lucky enough to hear.

There is a void created by his death yet the legend endures in our memories.  The telling of Raymond stories will live on and be embellished upon.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Gardner.  Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
