Richard Arlen Jennings, 81, of Kansas City, passed away comfortably on Saturday, May 27th, 2017. He was born on November 17, 1935 to Prentice Pryor and Opal Jennings. After Opal’s death in 1939, his stepmother, Sadie, and step-sister, Karolyn, entered his and his older brother, George’s lives. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1953, and he served in the US Army from 1957-1958. Richard was a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge, and he spent 40 years with the United States Postal Service before retiring in 1999. Richard enjoyed many things, including Diet Coke, NASCAR, and cat naps in front of the television. Richard is preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-mother, as well finally being reunited with his wife of 50 years, Linda, and their son and daughter, John and LeeAnn, after 2, 11, and 3 years of separation. Richard is survived by his step-sister, Karolyn, his son-in-law, Brian, and his two granddaughters, Holly and Elizabeth. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be 12:00pm, Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Floral Hills Funeral home. Inurnment will follow. Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am at the chapel.
