Richard E. Lindsey, 78, of Indep. Mo, passed away on June 14th, 2014. Born on Jan. 23rd 1936, to Herbert and Ruby Lindsey, he was the fourth of five sons. Dick spent most of his youth with best friend Gary Barnhart whose family "treated him like a son".
A 1954 graduate of William Chrisman, he excelled in both football & track. He spent his summers at Chrysler Stadium, catching older brother Herbie's notorious curve balls. He attended CMSU for 2 yrs where he won the Div. II Regional Golf Championship. He left to marry his first wife, Carole Bindi, and they went on to marry and start a family.
Dick spent most of his career in clothing sales and real estate, retiring from Michael's in 2013. In 2003, Dick married Katie Hughes who remained a loving, supportive partner until his death. Dick enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, vacationing at The Ozarks, and golfing at Lakewood. With a quick wit and talent for story-telling, he was a popular man.
He is survived by his first wife Carole, his daughters Laurie Woodworth (Brad) of L.S., MO; daughter Lisa Grams (Brent) of O.P., Ks; son Chris of K.C., MO, and 2nd wife Katie, of B.S, Mo. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Boston & Christian Woodworth, Aidan & Easton Grams.
Dick's life will be celebrated by family and friends on Fri. June 27th at The Cove Clubhouse at Lakewood, 4105 NW Lake Drive, L.S., MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests only your presence and favorite "Dickie" stories.
