Rita Guinevere Allison

Rita was the daughter of Orion and Josephine Stock. She grew up in Ames, Iowa, alongside her sisters, Joan and Ellen. She went on to graduate from Iowa State University.

On December 26, 1955, Rita married George R. Allison. Together they raised seven children in Kansas City, Missouri, and were longtime, active members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown. Rita worked as a calligrapher for Hallmark before dedicating herself to raising her growing family. She later worked at The Kansas City Star for many years and remained deeply devoted to supporting her children’s activities, including Boy Scouts Troop 283.

Rita had a passion for flowers and was a proud member of the Raytown Garden Club, where she shared her talent for arranging. She also enjoyed painting, music and was an avid reader. Known for her generous spirit, kindness, and quick smile, Rita touched the lives of all who knew her.

Rita is survived by her children: John Allison; Kathy Brill (Dan); Robert Allison (Frances); and James Allison (Laurel); as well as several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allison, and her sons, Tom, Richard, and Dan Allison.

Services will be held on August 29th, 2025, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64138. Rosary will be prayed at 9:30am followed by a visitation 10:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri 64138.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.

Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family takes comfort knowing she is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband and sons.
