Robbie "Lewis" Roberson

Robbie “Lewis” Roberson, 92, passed away October 26, 2015. Funeral service 7pm Thursday, October 29th with visitation beginning at 5:30pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., KCMO 64133. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove, KS.

Robbie was born January 29, 1923 in Oak Grove, LA to Romey & Myrtle (Meeks) Roberson. He attended grade school and graduated from 8th grade in Eudora, AR. When he was 18 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps on November 7, 1941 in Little Rock, AR. During his time with the CCC, he served in Sturgis, SD from November 11, 1941 – January 15, 1942 then from January 15, 1942 – February 2, 1942 he served in Hill City, SD. He was Honorably Discharged on February 2, 1942. Robbie then enlisted with the Army Air Corp on October 26, 1942 in Greenville, MS. He served a total of 3 years, 3 months & 18 days and of that time he spent 8 months & 7 days overseas in Guam. Robbie was Honorably Discharged from the 274th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Corporal on February 13, 1946. After his Military career he married Margaret Hebrank on February 9, 1947 and went on to complete the HVAC program from Universal Plumbing School in 1950. Robbie retired in July of 1975 from St. Luke’s Hospital.
