A Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10th followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Bob was preceded in death by both parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Sherry Bevan. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 41 years, Ronice "Ronni" Bevan: his son and daughter-in-law Dr. Matthew and Donna Bevan of Silver Spring, Maryland; and his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Lisa and Whitney Misch and Robert and Jennifer Misch of Falls Church, Virginia.
With God's guidance, Bob and Ronni met on a blind date, fell passionately in love, married one month later in Arlington, Virginia, and were on a honeymoon ever since. They lived in Historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and worked in Washington, D.C. After 40 years in Washington, Bob retired and they returned to Kansas City, Missouri, living on the Country Club Plaza where he grew up. Bob went to Westport High School, the University of Missouri at Columbia, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City Law School, graduating first in his class.
He served in the Army in World War II and Korea. Upon graduation from law school, Bob was recruited by U.S. Senator Thomas Hennings and was then with U.S. Senator Edward Long (Missouri). His career then took him to the American Bankers Association where he served as senior legal counsel in government affairs for trusts, investments, taxation and securities for 15 years. Bob then joined the law firm Hopkins & Sutter. He also was involved with the American Bar Association, serving as Chair of several committees in the banking area.
Bob was in Who's Who for his early work in Civil Rights and later for his work in banking. He was a member of the Cosmos Club, whose members founded the National Geographic. Membership required authoring books, publications and articles. Bob spoke all over the country regarding banking regulatory issues. He spent five years at the Stinson law firm in Kansas City before completely retiring. In the name of
God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen!" (Revelation 22:21)
